Our trip to Helen in the Rav4

For the Fourth of July weekend, we were given the privilege to partner with Local Toyota Dealers and take a spontaneous weekend trip to Helen, Georgia in the new 2019 Toyota RAV4. I’m not a big car guy but I will say there was a lot I really liked about this one.

First and foremost the seating is very spacious and comfortable. We were able to fit everything we needed for the three of us and Copper. Not to mention we packed enough food for 6 people (Mallory’s mom and my parents joined) and we still had plenty of room to spare.

I did most of the driving and while it wasn’t a very long trip to begin with it felt like it flew by. The lane departure alert with steering assist was incredibly accurate. It kinda freaked me out at first because I’ve never been in a vehicle with it, let alone driven one, or rather been driven by one. The RAV4 stayed completely in the lane at all times. There is also a feature that allows you to set how many car lengths you want to stay from the vehicle in front of you. And I loved that it warns you when there is a car coming up into your blind spot. I felt extremely safe on the highway with these settings.

Apple CarPlay. I can’t believe I’ve never had this. It was by far my favorite feature of the RAV4. The Apple CarPlay integrates only the car safe/relevant apps like, Podcast, which are my go-to for any amount of commuting or travel. I can’t say enough about the benefits of having Apple CarPlay on a large touch screen, again, my favorite part. Not to mention the 8-inch touch screen works extremely well. I loved having the map on the dash. I’m really bad at having someone give me directions so being able to keep an eye on it at all times was a lifesaver.

Other features that we liked about the new 2019 Toyota RAV4. We loved the leather seating. Anyone with toddlers or pets should have this, we currently do not. The automatic hands-free power liftgate is so convenient when you have full hands, which with a toddler is always. The smart key system with push-button start, which I do currently have and will never go back. Back-up camera, again, a wonderful luxury. Last but not least, the have heated AND cooled seats. Yea, you’re welcome, Atlanta.

This weekend get away was exactly what we needed. Mallory and I were able to sneak out to go see the new Spiderman movie. We never have childcare so getting out on our own little date night is rare and much needed. The cabin had a hot tub which was wonderful and I definitely relaxed in it several times. We went swimming, grilled out, and took Randy to play mini golf for the first time. We were lucky to have the whole family with us, it really hit the spot. We are extremely thankful for the opportunity and are looking forward to the next time we can take a Toyota out.

Here’s a little video recapping a glimpse of our time. Enjoy! Shout out to Abe PArker for writing the music for it!
